Gabriela is a friend of Laura, whose Quinceanera I did awhile ago. They loved the pictures I did for her, so hired me for her own Quinceaneara. I was really excited to do Gabi's because she was doing an actual Catholic ceremony. I love learning more about other, so it was a great experience for me to see first-hand a Catholic Quinceanera. For those of you who don't know what a Quinceanera is, I'll give you a short explanation. It's a VERY old tradition, that when the girls turned 15, they had a "coming of age" party, welcoming the girl into womanhood and therefore making her eligable for marriage (remember this is a VERY old tradition). Now it's more of the time when the daughter can officially date, with the families' permission. While some of the meaning has changed, the tradition has been carried on. So for their daughter's 15th birthday, they have a party bigger than most weddings! It's very similar to a wedding, with an big fancy dresses, a cake, a religious ceremony with a reception afterwards, an escort, a "court" which are similar to groomsmen and bridesmaids, dancing, gifts, and everything else wedding-like! It's crazy how much time and money they put into it, but it's a wonderful event that I am happy to take part in. Click HERE for more info
The day of the Quinceanera, I spent the entire day taking pictures of her getting ready, the ceremony, formal pictures before the reception, cake-cutting, dancing... the whole shebang! It was a long day, but I had a great time (and get compensated monitarily as well)

She is a beautiful girl

Loved the bouquet
Her dress was gorgeous... fit her like a glove
Another tradition-- she got this necklace with her name and age 15, representative of the Quinceanera

She is a beautiful girl
